What is a Discord Selfbot? 

A Discord selfbot is a bot that runs on a normal user account instead of a bot account. Unlike regular Discord bots, which use Discord’s official Bot API and require a bot token, a selfbot operates through a user's account by directly using their user token to make automated requests to Discord’s API.

🚨 Important Note: Discord strictly prohibits selfbots as they violate their Terms of Service. Using one can result in an account suspension or ban.

How Selfbots Work

User Authentication & Token Usage

• A selfbot extracts and uses the user token from a Discord account.
• This token is then used to send requests to Discord’s API as if the user were performing actions manually.
• Unlike bot accounts, selfbots bypass OAuth authentication and act with full permissions of the user account.

Automation & Commands

• Selfbots are commonly scripted in Python (using discord.py-self), JavaScript (Node.js with discord.js-selfbot), or other languages.
• They allow users to execute commands directly through their Discord client, such as:
  • Sending custom embedded messages
  • Automating responses and reactions
  • Mass deleting messages
  • Fetching user data
  • Spamming or raiding (which is highly against Discord’s rules)

Interfacing with Discord’s API

• A selfbot interacts with Discord’s REST API and Gateway (WebSocket) to send, edit, and delete messages, react to messages, and perform various other actions.
• Since selfbots use the same API endpoints as normal users, they can sometimes bypass certain rate limits that bot accounts face.
• Example: A selfbot can make API calls that regular bots cannot, such as using Rich Presence or sending messages with custom fonts and markdown.

Common Uses of Selfbots

✔ Custom Embedded Messages – Users can send fancy embedded messages, normally reserved for bots.
✔ Automated Tasks – Quick reactions, message deletion, or even AI-generated responses.
✔ Scripting & Macros – Automating repetitive Discord tasks (e.g., answering FAQs).
✔ Enhanced User Experience – Custom profile enhancements, quick command execution.

🚫 Malicious Uses (Against Discord TOS):
❌ Spamming messages, DMs, or mass reactions.
❌ Server nuking or raiding.
❌ Auto-buying in giveaways or Discord Nitro scams.
❌ Scraping user data or messages.

Why Selfbots Are Banned on Discord

Discord officially banned selfbots in 2017 for the following reasons:

1. API Abuse & Rate Limits – Selfbots bypass rate limits meant for normal users, putting stress on Discord’s servers.
2. Security & Account Risks – Since selfbots require a user token, they can easily be stolen by malicious scripts, leading to account hacks.
3. Unfair Advantages – Selfbots give users unfair benefits over regular Discord users, such as automated trading in servers, sniping giveaways, etc.
4. Spam & Raiding – Many selfbots have been used for mass spamming and disrupting communities.

⚠ Consequence of Using a Selfbot:

• Account suspension or permanent ban.
• IP bans or device bans in severe cases.
• Discord actively detects and removes selfbots using automated security measures.

How Are Selfbots Detected?

• Behavioral Analysis – Discord monitors accounts for bot-like activity (e.g., instant responses, mass message deletion).
• Rate Limits & API Requests – Discord detects unusual API request patterns that normal users wouldn’t make.
• Machine Learning & Anti-Spam Systems – Selfbots that automate responses get flagged.
• User Reports & Moderation – If a selfbot is reported, Discord investigates and can ban the account.
